“GAP-Good Agricultural Practices” workshops will be held on May 23 in Northeast, Ohio
PRODUCE SAFETY...is a must in today's environment of ensuring safe food for your customers - at the farmers market, roadside farm stand or through selling to grocery stores/restaurants. OSU Extension strives to assist growers in this process and will be hosting a GAP-Good Agricultural Practices workshop in two locations in northeast Ohio on Thursday, May 23, 2013.
Ohio State Launches Ohio Scholarship Challenge
The Ohio State University has begun a new fund-raising campaign to support students from all 88 Ohio counties. The "Ohio Scholarship Challenge" seeks to raise $100 million in general undergraduate scholarship funds for Ohio State students at all campuses. This Challenge is also part of the university’s larger effort to raise $500 million in private funds for student financial aid and scholarships. The Ohio Scholarship Challenge honorary co-chairs are Ohio State head football Coach Urban Meyer and men’s basketball Coach Thad Matta.

A three-part parenting class on learning strategies for everyday parenting dilemmas and difficulties. All ages and stages covered with an emphasis on participant's child(rens) ages 0-17.
NURSERY GROWERS BE READY!
There is a good chance that many of you will be inspected for the Workers Protected Standards (WPS) program. Some of the issues you will be expected to have ready are: 1.) Safety posters with proper information at the bottom. 2.) Proper training for handlers and workers (documented) every 5 years. 3.) MSDS and label books on record. 4.) Cleanup areas, disposable suits or wash machines and lockers for handlers. 5.) Field posting and central posting areas that are up to date. 6.) Inventory of products. 7.) Spray records with all 8 areas of information filled in. 8.) A coordinator for your business. 9.) Greenhouse posting system. 10.) Proper personnel protective equipment. 11.) Cleanup station for workers 1/4 miles or further from your buildings (clean water, single use towels and soap). 12.) Communication records for applicators using danger use products every 3 hours.
