Laura Deeter received her PhD in horticulture from The Ohio State University, and is a Full Professor of Horticulture at Ohio State ATI in Wooster, OH.  She travels extensively around the country speaking on a variety of topics, and has received a number of distinguished awards. At home she gardens on her tenth of an acre with her hubby, three dogs, 100 pink flamingos and counts her 300+ species of perennials as dear friends.

Laura will present “The Basics of Design.” Where does one even start when it comes to landscape design? What are design principles, design elements and how do I even go about thinking about all of that? This session will show you how to break down the ‘rules’ of design, apply them, and provide examples of each concept. Learn and laugh at various designs while getting tips and tricks for just about any situation.

Erik Draper has been the Commercial Horticulture Educator for The Ohio State University Extension of Geauga County, located in Burton, Ohio for the past 26 years.  One of Erik's major emphasis and specialties is to actively use, teach, develop and refine all critical thinking skills necessary to diagnose biotic and abiotic plant disorders. Erik also loves and is devoted to using the science of phytoforensics.

Erik will present “20 Questions of Plant Problem Diagnostics… Which Questions Really Matter?” I’m often asked, “Do I really always have to answer all 20 questions?” The simple answer is … the more questions you can correctly decipher and answer, the more accurate will be your plant problem diagnostic answer! Come learn more about this process in the great skill game we call Plant Diagnostics!
